Petition to Stop Punitive Military and Paramilitary Operations
Against the Lumad People in the Philippines

We call on the Eastern Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to stop punitive operations by the army and their paramilitary units against the Lumad indigenous people of Mindanao.  Recent operations have resulted in the killing of Lumad leaders, vilification and harassment, occupation of schools and the other community buildings, the closing of tribal schools, evacuation of many thousands of people, and false cases being filed against church workers and others who have come the aid of the Lumad.  We ask you to:

[]   Stop the killings of the Lumad people in Mindanao and end impunity.
[]   Pull out military forces from Lumad communities when requested.
[]   Disband paramilitary forces and prosecute those guilty of crimes.
[]   Respect the Indigenous Peoples’ right to education, livelihood, and self-determination.
